Is this fairy tale in danger of having an unhappy ending?

The new trailer for "Descendants 3," the latest in Disney Channel's movie musical franchise is here. It was unveiled by stars Sofia Carson, Cameron Boyce and Booboo Stewart at Radio Disney’s inaugural ARDYs music celebration.

The original cast including the three actors and Dove Cameron all return, as does director Kenny Ortega ("High School Musical").

"Descendants" follows the teen children of Disney's greatest villains, like Maleficent, Jafar, and Cruella de Vil. In the third movie, the Villain Kids return to their birthplace, the Isle of the Lost, to recruit four more Villain Kids to join them at Auradon Prep. There, they’ll have a chance at finding success, happiness, and fulfillment.

But a dark force threatens the idyllic Auradon and it's up to the Villain Kids to save their new home.

"Descendants 3" is set to air on the Disney Channel at 8 p.m. on Friday, August 2.
