'Stranger Things' Star David Harbour Used a Perfect Movie Reference for Election Day
If you need extra motivation to vote today, Nov. 6, David Harbour can offer it.
The "Stranger Things" star posted a meme via Instagram on Monday, Nov. 5 that is both an excellent movie reference and a strong reminder to vote on Election Day. The meme shows a photo from "Jaws 2" and serves as something of a cautionary tale.
"The mayor from Jaws is still the mayor in Jaws 2," it reads. "Be sure to vote in your local elections."
In "Jaws," the mayor, Larry Vaughn (Murray Hamilton), ignores advice to close the beaches, to disastrous results. However, he's still in office in "Jaws 2." Given that context, Harbour's message is clear: You have to vote if you want change, and local elections are just as important as nationwide ones.
While shark attacks probably aren't the primary concern most of us have on a daily basis, our local elected officials handle all sorts of equally important matters. You should have a say in who does the job. If you're eligible to vote, make sure you take the opportunity to head to the polls.
We always love a good movie reference. Hats off to Harbour for nailing it.
