Amazon's 'Dark Tower' Pilot Adds Jasper Pääkkönen, Sam Strike
The cast for Amazon's "Dark Tower" pilot is coming together.
Two key roles have been cast, Variety reports. Sources tell the publication that Jasper Pääkkönen and Sam Strike have joined the project. Amazon has not commented on the news and their roles are not confirmed, but they are thought to be playing Marten Broadcloak (a.k.a. The Man in Black) and Roland Deschain (a.k.a. The Gunslinger), respectively.
The project is based on Stephen King's eight-book Dark Tower series. The books previously inspired the 2017 film "The Dark Tower." It brought in more than $113.2 million worldwide with a production budget of $60 million, per Box Office Mojo. Co-written and directed by Nikolaj Arcel, it was a continuation of the story. Amazon's "Dark Tower," on the other hand, is expected to more closely follow the books.
Pääkkönen's most recent TV series was The History Channel's "Vikings"; he starred in the series during Seasons 4 and 5. He also appeared in 2018's "BlacKkKlansman." Strike has both TV and film work behind him, too. He starred in Syfy's "Nightflyers" and the 2018 horror flick "Monster Party."
"Dark Tower" comes from MRC, with Glen Mazzara set to serve as executive producer and showrunner.
