The upcoming comedy "Covers" has found stars in Dakota Johnson and Tracee Ellis Ross. The actresses have signed on for the Nisha Ganatra-directed project, Deadline reports.

The script, which is written by Flora Greeson, explores Hollywood's music scene. It's a world both Johnson and Ross should know something about; Johnson is the daughter of producer-singer-songwriter Don Johnson, while Ross's parents are the legendary Diana Ross and music exec Bob Ellis. Flora Greeson wrote the script. Plot and character details haven't been revealed yet.

Johnson comes to the project having recently starred in "Wounds" and "Suspiria." She's also known for playing Anastasia Steele in the Fifty Shades of Grey movies. Meanwhile, Ross has starred in ABC's sitcom "Black-ish" since 2014 and racked up three Primetime Emmy Award nominations and a Golden Globe Award along the way. She recently voiced a character in the film "Little," but she hasn't starred any films since 2007's "Daddy's Little Girls."

Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner of Working Title are producing "Covers," and Alexandra Loewy is set to executive produce. Focus Features is the U.S. distributor, while Universal Pictures International will distribute overseas.
