Chris Rock Reveals Premiere Date for Netflix Special 'Tamborine'
Back in 2016, comedy superstar Chris Rock inked a rumored eight-figure contract with Netflix to film two stand-up specials for the streaming service. Now, Rock has finally revealed when the first one will premiere, and it turns out that fans won't have to wait much longer.
In a post shared across his social media accounts on Tuesday, the comedian announced that his new special, "Tamborine," would make its grand debut on Wednesday, February 14.

The teaser Rock shared doesn't exactly shed light on what fans can expect from the program, though it does feature plenty of imagery of the titular musical instrument. The official Netflix comedy account teased in a tweet, "Rock's back to shake things up," while Deadline reports that the comedian "covers of gamut of contemporary issues, with his trademark laser-like observations."
"Tamborine" is Rock's first special in a decade, following a longtime working relationship with HBO, which netted the comedian four Emmys. But Netflix offered Rock a price he couldn't refuse -- somewhere rumored to be in the $40 million range, a record for a comedy special -- and he jumped ship for the streaming service. Rock joins the ranks of other splashy comedy acquisitions Netflix has made in recent years, including shows and specials from Jerry Seinfeld, Amy Schumer, and David Letterman.
"Tamborine" is scheduled to drop on Netflix at 9 p.m. PST tomorrow.
