Chloë Grace Moretz Isn't Interested in Doing 'Kick-Ass 3'
Turns out Chloë Grace Moretz was as underwhelmed with "Kick-Ass 2" as the rest of us.
Talking to IndieWire, the actress said she has no interest in doing a third "Kick-Ass" film after the way the second one was handled. Like many fans, it's likely she wasn't happy that Hit-Girl and fellow crime fighter Kick-Ass (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) went from a sibling-like relationship to a romantic one.
Earlier this month, director Matthew Vaughn told Empire he was planning a "reboot" of the comic-book-inspired series. And a Hit-Girl solo film that would feature either a younger or older version of the character. (Sounds like he already got the memo from Moretz.)
"I love the franchise, I think the first movie was really, really special," the actress said at the Provincetown Film Festival in Massachusetts, "I wish the second one had been handled in a little bit of a different way. Because I think we were all kind of looking forward to something a little different than what happened with it all."
She added, "As much as I love the character of Hit-Girl, I think she lives and survives in 'Kick-Ass,' and I kind of want to keep her there... So I don't think there will be a 'Kick-Ass 3,' at least I don't think with Hit-Girl in it."
Given that Moretz also revealed she was fat-shamed by a costar on the "Kick-Ass 2" set, it sounds like making the sequel was a lousy experience all around.
The 21-year-old was in Provincetown to receive the festival's Next Wave Award and to promote her film "The Miseducation of Cameron Post."
She appears next in Luca Guadagnino's eagerly anticipated remake of horror classic "Suspiria."
