Catherine Hardwicke Will Direct Adaptation of Feminist Viking Comic Book 'Heathen'
"Twilight" and "Miss Bala" director Catherine Hardwicke has just signed a deal to bring Vault Comic’s best-selling comic book series "Heathen" to the big screen, Constantin Film and Prime Universe Films announced today.
Written and drawn by Natasha Alterici, "Heathen” follows Aydis, a young female Viking, a warrior, an outcast, and a self-proclaimed “heathen.” She is on a mission to end the oppressive reign of the God-king Odin.
The comic’s first trade paperback sold out in a week and is now in a second printing. Heathen #7 just came out.
Kerry Williamson (whose credits include "Alex Cross" and "What Happened to Monday") has signed on to write the script.
Hardwicke is currently shooting Quibi’s "Don’t Look Deeper," which stars Don Cheadle, Emily Mortimer and Helena Howard.
