Crushing! Cate Blanchett is happily married, but she is absolutely smitten with Robert Redford.

"I have an unapologetic, uncontrollable crush on the man," she told Jimmy Kimmel on Monday on "Jimmy Kimmel Live." Blanchett and Redford costar in the new film "Truth" about the final days of Dan Rather's time as a CBS broadcaster in 2004, after having run a highly controversial story about then-presidential candidate George W. Bush.

"Bob has been so extraordinary in American culture. Generally, you forget what an extraordinary actor he is. He does so much other stuff," Blanchett said. "Somehow he uses and understands his iconic status and [puts] that into Dan's iconic status. It's perfect casting."

Rather's story was highly controversial with many people believing the sources weren't properly vetted. Blanchett thinks the same type of accountability would probably happen today, even though, thanks a lot to social media, information is disseminated in a totally different way than it was then.

"That notion of scandal and the erosion of investigative journalism since that time has been quite profound," she said. "It was a real fork in the road, because where they were at with the blogosphere and the personal attacks, which we just take as a daily occurrence, it was completely uncharted territory."
