Did a Cast Credit Spoil 'Game of Thrones' Season 7, Episode 5 Surprise?
*Potential "Game of Thrones" Season 7 spoilers ahead*
"Game of Thrones" Season 7 has been packed with first-time meetings and awkward reunions, and it sounds like another return may be happening in Episode 5, "Eastwatch."
We've been waiting to see Gendry again after he was left rowing -- and rowing, and rowing -- in the Season 3 finale. Actor Joe Dempsie was seen in Belfast during Season 7 filming, and he showed up to the Season 7 premiere to confirm his return this year, so his Gendry has been expected on screen at any time.
IMDb posted his name in the credits for Episode 5, leaving some fans to think that's when Gendry returns. Dempsie's listing has been deleted, but here's a screen cap from Cosmo:
Anyone can edit IMDb, so it's not an official confirmation, but considering all of the leaks out there -- from months ago to just recently -- it's possible that someone added his name to Episode 5 because they read spoilers that he'd arrive that week. It could still be wrong, but considering we only have Episode 5, Episode 6, and Episode 7 left to the entire season (sniff), it's gonna be one of those weeks. And now we're hoping/expecting Gendry to show up in the August 13 episode.
Last year, the "Game of Thrones" showrunners joked about Gendry still rowing -- "He's coming up on Florida," "He's getting in great shape" -- because fans are constantly asking about Gendry. He had a role in Arya's storyline, then had his own plot as King Robert Baratheon's son, which led Davos to send him on that rowboat to save him from Melisandre.
Arya has had a few reunions so far this year -- some awkward, some sweet -- and we're looking forward to seeing her reunite with Gendry (and, of course, Jon).
"Eastwatch" airs Sunday, Aug. 13 at 9 p.m. on HBO.
