'Captain America: Civil War': Martin Freeman Drops Big Hints on Character
Marvel's "Captain America: Civil War" is coming out next May, and while we know Martin Freeman is joining the gigantic cast, we don't know exactly which character he's playing. But Martin shared some new intel with the Italian site BadTaste, revealing he'll be employing an "East Coast American" accent, plus these other details...
We can say he works for the government; he works for the American government. He works in conjunction with the superheroes, and certain agencies that help to tame the superheroes' power, I suppose. So, you're not quite sure which side he's on. It looks a little bit like he's playing one game when, actually, he's playing another. It's the kind of character I like because it's ambiguous and because you don't know whether he's, you know, good or bad. And I like that area, that isn't black or white, I like the grays because I think there's just more fun to be had in not playing one obvious line."
Interesting. Some fans think Martin could be playing Everett Ross or maybe Henry Gyrich. As Comic Book Resources speculated:
Henry Gyrich is a Marvel character famous for making the Avengers' lives miserable throughout his career as the team's official government liaison, going so far as to attempt to shut the team down completely on several occasions. Another possibility is Everett Ross, the American regent to Wakanda assigned to keep tabs on the Black Panther, another Marvel character making his movie debut in "Civil War."
Do you have a theory on Martin's character? "Civil War" is scheduled for release on May 6, 2016.
