The 'Black Panther' Cast Bonded By Singing Snoop Dogg’s 'Drop It Like It’s Hot'
"Black Panther" is the hottest movie in the world. Its cast is full of the hottest stars right now (keep doing push-ups, Michael B. Jordan). And so it's only right that they all bonded over the Snoop Dogg's song "Drop It Like It's Hot."
Last night at Harlem's Apollo Theater, Chadwick Boseman and Lupita Nyong'o sat down for a Q&A session with Ta-Nehisi Coates (who writes the current "Black Panther" comic series). During a discussion about the positive atmosphere cultivated by director Ryan Coogler, Boseman recalled "musical moments" that would erupt on set.
As Nyong'o elaborated, one such moment occurred while filming of T'Challa's first battle at Warrior Falls.
"The drummers started drumming to Snoop Dogg's 'Drop It Like It's Hot' and then the entire crowd joined in on that 'snooooooop snooooop,'" she said.
"That's the moment that I really felt the pan-Africanism because we were all there. We're from Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Kenya, Uganda, Germany, the U.K., Zimbabwe, South Africa, Ghana, Senegal — you know, we're from everywhere. South Carolina, California, Canada, you name it."
She added, "We were on this crazy cliff and we all knew Snoop Doggy Dogg's 'Drop It Like It's Hot.'"
Please, by all that is holy on the ancestral plane, include this priceless karaoke moment on the DVD outtakes!
