'Big Little Lies' Season 2: Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern, Zoe Kravitz Confirmed to Return
"Big Little Lies" Season 2 will be one big, happy reunion, with HBO confirming that stars Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern, and Zoe Kravitz are set to reprise their roles in the Golden Globe and Emmy-winning series.
Of course, it was pretty much a given that all three would join co-stars Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman in the second season. But now, it's official and HBO has even teased what to expect from their characters' plotlines following the first season's murder/death of Perry (Alexander Skarsgard).
Woodley's Jane Chapman will be "processing Perry's sudden death [and] trying to build a new life for herself and Ziggy." As for Dern, "the epitome of control, Renata is now faced with new challenges in her marriage." And as Bonnie Carlson, Kravitz "struggles with Perry's death and is forced to face demons in her past."
Meanwhile, Witherspoon's type-A Madeline Martha Mackenzie is "finding that good intentions don't always yield good consequences" and "coming to terms with her own marriage and traditional notions of family." As Celeste, Kidman is "adrift, but determined to fight for her family and find the woman she once was."
Added into this mix is Meryl Streep, who will play Perry's mother, Mary Louise Wright, who comes to Monterey searching for answers.
