Now that the 2018 Emmy nominations have been announced, there are a lot of people in the entertainment industry who have something to celebrate, and Benedict Cumberbatch is definitely one of them.

Not only did the actor earn a nod for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie for his role in "Patrick Melrose" on Thursday, he reached an impressive milestone. Cumberbatch is now is now tied for the second-most nominations ever in that category. He is currently holding down the second slot with late actor and director Laurence Olivier.

The official "Patrick Melrose" Twitter account made note of the milestone in a tweet and congratulated its star.

The account later shared a statement from Cumberbatch, and not surprisingly, the actor is thrilled to have been recognized. He said:

This is wonderful! Getting to play this role was reward enough and now to be recognized with this nomination makes me feel humbled and so appreciative. And I’m thrilled for my talented colleagues who were honored with our other nominations for their superb work on Patrick Melrose. And we are all eternally grateful to the brilliant Edward St. Aubyn whose unparalleled prose was our inspiration. I hope this recognition brings an even wider audience to both the series and the books.

In total, Cumberbatch has been nominated for six Emmys, all in the same category. He's gotten a nod every year since 2012, save for 2015, and five of the noms were for "Sherlock." So far, he's won once, for "Sherlock: His Last Vow," in 2014. We'll see if he can add to his collection in September.

The 2018 Emmys air live on Sept. 17 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
