Bachelor Nation Boss Teases 'Shocking News' Regarding 'The Bachelor'
Who will be "The Bachelor" for the 2018 Season 22? The show creator has some news on that front, and he teased that it will be "shocking."
Then again, it might just be Peter Kraus.
"Bachelorette" Rachel Lindsay didn't want Peter to be the new Bachelor, but Reality Steve claims Peter will be the guy anyway.
The 2018 season premieres in January, and Chris Harrison had said they'd wait for "Bachelor in Paradise" to run its course before naming the new guy. That led some fans to think we might see a Wells or a Ben Z. Bachelor. But no. Peter was apparently always the guy they wanted -- at least according to Reality Steve. And even though there was a questionable tweet from "Bachelor" boss Mike Fleiss that seemed to be about Peter, and an unnamed source telling People that Peter would never be the Bachelor, he will reportedly be the Season 22 Bachelor.
Fleiss tweeted a Bachelor tease on Aug. 30:
Stand by for shocking news regarding #thebachelor ...

Would Peter as the Bachelor qualify as "shocking news"? Maybe after his own previous tweet. It could be a false lead, but on the same day, just before Fleiss' tweet, Reality Steve tweeted this:
(SPOILER): I feel confident in reporting that sources are telling me Peter is the next Bachelor & it will be announced soon.
— RealitySteve (@RealitySteve) August 30, 2017
I'm aware of last min switch ups in the past, but I don't believe that's happening this time. He's been the guy they've wanted since Day 1.

If your take is "Why is he the Bachelor if he couldn't propose to Rachel in that short of time," then you don't know how this show works.

Fleiss tweeted about "shocking news" after that, so was he trying to confuse fans into thinking it won't be Peter, or getting ahead of the news in case people were confused by Peter as "The Bachelor"? Fleiss also added this random tweet, which may have nothing to do with his own Bachelor Nation, but still:
Tv trivia... Has a broadcast network ever canceled its No. 1 show???

Just a random question, or...?
Anyway, Peter famously refused to propose to Rachel on "The Bachelorette" because he only wanted to propose once in life and he wasn't ready at that point to confirm that she was the one. He wanted her to pick him and just have them date in real life. Rachel and the show acted like this was preposterous and had never been done, but the show had done it themselves in early seasons. Many fans were fine with Peter's reasoning, but what will happen if he's The Bachelor? Would it be assumed that he would not propose? If he did propose, would he look like a hypocrite, or would it be perceived as a slight to Rachel -- that it was always about her not being the right one for him, not the short timeframe not being right for him?
Anyway, if there really is "shocking news" coming then maybe it has nothing to do with Peter and we are in for a Nick Viall-level twist. Let's just hope it's better than Nick as The Bachelor because we just saw how that turned out.
