Anthony Mackie and Frank Grillo Reteam for 'Point Blank' Remake
Anthony Mackie and Frank Grillo, who memorably battled it out in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," are reteaming for a remake of a French action film.
Collider reports that Mackie is nearing a deal to star in "Point Blank," a remake of Fred Cavayé's 2010 crime drama. (Not to be confused with the 1967 classic neo-noir "Point Blank" starring Lee Marvin.)
Mackie will play a nurse who must help a wounded murder suspect (Grillo) escape from the hospital when the man's brother kidnaps Mackie's pregnant wife. It sounds like a less fighting and a whole lot more running than the Falcon vs. Crossbones fight in "Winter Soldier." And we're guessing no one drops a building on either guy.
Joe Lynch ("Mayhem") is directing from a script by Adam G. Simon ("Man Down"). You may remember "Man Down" as the Shia La Beouf movie that reportedly sold just three tickets during its entire British theatrical run (and not much more in the U.S.).
Joe Carahan and Grillo are producing "Point Blank," along with French studio Gaumont. Production is expected to start this summer.
A remake was already made in South Korea and a Hindi version was also in the works at one point.
Grillo just wrapped with Mel Gibson "Boss Level" for Carnahan. And Mackie's prepping to play attorney Johnnie Cochran in a legal drama based on a real 1981 case of police brutality.
