Anne Hathaway Would Be the Cutest, Fluffiest Monster - With a Deadly Tail
In the surreal, quirky and funny monster flick "Colossal," Anne Hathaway plays a drunk who discovers that her behavior, down to her hand gestures, is mimicked by a monster rampaging through South Korea.
We did say it was surreal and quirky, right?
The film's offbeat premise had Made in Hollywood reporter Kylie Erica Mar wondering what kind of monster Hathaway would want to be.
"I think my creature would have iridescent rainbow-colored wings and her name would be Hugs and she would hug you whether or not you wanted one," Hathaway said. "She'd be kind of aggressive about it. ... And I think it would be kind of fluffy. And I'd like to sparkle in some way."
Which all sounds very cute, except for one thing.
"I would like to add that my monster would also have a scorpion tale," she said. "I like hugs -- but don't mess with me."

Mar posed the same question to the "Colossal's" writer-director Nacho Vigalondo, who, it turns out, had already given the matter great thought.
"I know this kind of question is like a game, but I can give a really precise answer because when you write fiction you can actually put your spirit animals on screen," he said, then pointed to Hathaway. "All I can say is my spirit animal is her in this film."
"He didn't just answer the question," said Hathaway, "he made a whole film about it."
Viaglondo explained: "When y0u're making a story like like this, which is half my love towards these kinds of films, monster movies, and the other half is really intimate. It's coming from my life. There's a big chunk of me in her. This is my spirit monster."
"Hi, it's me," said Hathaway, smiling and waving, "I'm the monster."
