'Anne' Gets Premiere Date in Adorable Netflix 'Red Alert' Video
There's a new ginger coming to Netflix, and we feel like bosom friends already. Netflix just announced the Friday, May 12 premiere date of "Anne," its new TV adaptation of Lucy Maud Montgomery's beloved series "Anne of Green Gables." Just "don't call her Carrots" or she might give you the Gilbert treatment!
Netflix has been on fire this week, from the "Stranger Things" Season 2 Super Bowl teaser (the most tweeted about ad of the big game), to today's "Orange Is the New Black" Season 5 premiere date reveal, and the (still cryptic) announcement about "The OA Part II."
This "Anne" teaser takes the cake, though, bringing together all the ginger ladies of Netflix for a "red alert" tease about the new girl.

Here's the "Anne" synopsis from Netflix:
"'Anne' is a coming-of-age story about an outsider who, against all odds and many challenges, fights for love and acceptance and her place in the world. Set in Prince Edward Island in the late 1890s, the series centers on Anne Shirley (Amybeth McNulty), a young orphaned girl who, after an abusive childhood spent in orphanages and the homes of strangers, is mistakenly sent to live with an aging sister and brother. Over time, 13-year-old Anne will transform the lives of Marilla (Geraldine James) and Matthew Cuthbert (R.H. Thomson) and eventually the entire small town in which they live with her unique spirit, fierce intellect and brilliant imagination. Anne's adventures will reflect timeless and topical issues including themes of identity, feminism, bullying and prejudice."
It was previously revealed that "Anne" will start with a two-hour series premiere, include eight episodes. And now we know they will arrive on Friday, May 12.
