In a truly terrifying twist, the upcoming seventh season of "American Horror Story" will feature a theme audiences already know well: The 2016 election.

"AHS" creator Ryan Murphy revealed that bone-chilling detail in an interview with Bravo's "Watch What Happens Live" on Wednesday night, chatting with host Andy Cohen about what fans can expect from the show's next installment.

"I don't have a title, but the season that we begin shooting in June is going to be about the election that we just went through," Murphy told Cohen. "I think that will be interesting for a lot of people."

"Interesting" is one word for it. "Nightmare-inducing" is another. But according to TVLine, the decision to reference such recent events lines up with what Murphy told reporters earlier this year at the Television Critics Association press tour, when the showrunner said that the new season of "AHS" would focus on a modern day-set story.

Murphy didn't say much else on "Watch What Happens Live," other than hinting that "maybe" a Trump character would show up. We do already know, however, that "AHS" regulars The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story." Maybe she can don an orange one to play the POTUS, too.
