'American Horror Story' Season 7: Ryan Murphy Posts First (Political?) Tease
"American Horror Story" always delivers when it comes to teases, if not the final product, so it's exciting to see the cycle begin anew.
Creator Ryan Murphy has already revealed that the new season, which they start filming in June, will be about the recent U.S. presidential election. With that in mind, here's the first tease for Season 7 -- a sketch shared on Instagram by Murphy himself:
Instead of lipstick on a pig, we have lipstick on an elephant. Of course, the symbol of the Republican party is an elephant, with a donkey representing the Democratic party. So should we read something GOP into this image?
Despite the modern political premise, Murphy did recently clarify (via TVLine) that we won't see Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton as characters in Season 7. "The themes of American Horror Story have always been allegories."
The cast for AHS7 (no official title has been revealed yet) is said to star usual suspects Evan Peters and Sarah Paulson, and co-star newbies Billie Lourd and Billy Eichner.
Murphy told E! that "American Horror Story" Season 7 is expected to premiere right after Labor Day this September on FX.
