"Agent Carter" star Hayley Atwell doesn't just want to be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe; she'd like to star in the Whoniverse, too.

Atwell, who plays the titular spy on ABC's "Carter" and in the "Doctor Who." And when she was asked by a Twitter follower if she'd ever consider guest-starring on the show, the British actress gave a pretty awesome response.

"I'd like to BE Doctor Who," Atwell replied, launching a thousand fan fiction entries in the process.


It's no secret that while much beloved, "Doctor Who" still draws criticism for its all-male, all-white casting of the titular time-traveler. While Atwell is a bit busy at the moment with her Marvel duties, it's still technically plausible for her to also pull double duty as the Doctor (filming during breaks from the "Agent Carter" shoot, for example).

And if not her, surely there's another British actress who'd be perfect for the part, too, right? It seems about time for the Doctor/companion roles to be gender-swapped. Or better yet, how about females in both lead roles?

Here's hoping Atwell's wish can come true.
