Heck yeah!

"The Middle" ended in late May, after airing on ABC for nine seasons. But! Also in May, ABC dangled the fruit that it was considering a spinoff following Eden Sher's Sue Heck. Initial reports said the network might order a pilot, but there were no further details.

Now it's official. ABC has ordered production on a pilot for the Sue Heck spinoff.

"The Middle" series finale had a flash-forward showing Sue would eventually marry neighbor Sean. This new series would be set before the flash-forward timeline, but a few years after the main timeline of the finale.

The new spinoff -- a half-hour single camera comedy -- aims to follow 20-something Sue Heck as she leaves the small town of Orson, Indiana to pursue a career in Chicago.

There's no word yet on what the title of the series would be, or when it would premiere. That's assuming ABC even picks the pilot up for a full series. Fans are pretty excited to see more of Sue Heck, so it would be very disappointing if the pilot didn't take off.
