Annette Bening Tries to Raise a Good Man in New '20th Century Women' Trailer
"Don't you need a man to raise a man?" a character asks Annette Bening's single mom in the new trailer for "20th Century Women."
"No, I don't think so," she responds, but there's a flicker of hesitation in her eyes.
"20th Century Women" is a coming-of-age tale set in 1979 for both Bening's Dorothea and her teenage son, Jamie (Lucas Jade Zumann). As she tries to figure out how to keep connected to Jamie, Dorothea turns to two younger women, punk artist Abbie (Greta Gerwig) and teen neighbor Julie (Elle Fanning) to help her guide him through the turbulent, confusing, exciting time known as adolescence.
The trailer is all cool California colors and dreamy vibes. Bening looks to give an outstanding performance, and it's no wonder she's already being talked about as a frontrunner in the upcoming awards season.
"20th Century Women" opens in theaters Christmas Day.
