13 Most Epic TV Bromances

Moviefone
June 22, 2015 - 1 min read

"Bromance" may be a relatively new term in English lexicon, but now it seems like the only way we describe a camaraderie between two guys that transcends the classification of friendship. Love the phrase or despise it, it's hard to deny the myriad of bromantic bonds in pop culture over the years. From J.D. and Turk to Chandler and Joey, here are 13 epic, next-level TV romances we can't help but love.

Turk and J.D., 'Scrubs'

Not even Nicholas Sparks could dream up a love as deep and tender as J.D. and Turk's. These two go way back, have the same oddball sense of humor, and aren't afraid of expressing a little (OK, a lot) of PDA now and then. Despite their romantic relationships, these docs always made room in each other's lives. Bonus points for Zach Braff and Donald Faison being real-life BFFs!

Stewie and Brian, 'Family Guy'

These unlikely pals aren't exactly bros, considering one is a matricide-obsessed baby with an upper-class British accent and the other's a pseudo-intellectual alcoholic dog... Nevertheless, they found each other in the chaos of the Griffin household and formed their own (really weird) mini-family.

Cory and Shawn, 'Boy Meets World'

We're guessing that pretty much every '90s tween yearned for the special rapport that Cory and Shawn shared. These buddies were with each other through everything -- middle school, family problems, a wedding, and some really know they're going strong. But Shawn is arguably the true love of Cory's life. Oh, and that secret handshake was everything.

Danny, Joey, Jesse, 'Full House'

The family that sings "Teddy Bear" together, stays together. Danny and Joey may have been OG besties in this scenario, but just 'cause Jesse moved in since he was Danny's late wife's bro doesn't mean he shouldn't get equal friendship billing. These guys were so close that even after Jesse got married and started his own family, he continued to live in the ATTIC. That's commitment. But it kind of seemed like Joey stuck around because he had nowhere else to go.

Mac and Dennis, 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia'

We're fairly certain that most of these despicable (albeit hilarious) humans's history together involves something illegal, sleazy, and/or self-serving, but we've enjoyed their mutually-detestable antics every step of the way. It's not all bad. Remember how Mac peels apples for Dennis so he doesn't get toxins? How sweet! He's probably just making up for that time he banged his mom, though. Friendship!

Nick and Schmidt, 'New Girl'

It's hard to imagine grumpy Nick Miller without trusty Schmidt to balance him out, and vice versa. Miller may be less smooth with the ladies and not as successful as his other half, but former fat kid Schmidt would just not be the man he is today without him. He's also probably less of a douchebag, too. Would another pair hold a "Tinfinity" party to celebrate their 10 years as roomies? (Sn is the symbol for tin, Sn combines their initials. It's a whole thing). Who would pretend to email as Michael Keaton so their down-in-the-dumps bud could get a boost from their childhood idol? Nick Miller would. For Schmidt? Anything.

Seth and Ryan, 'The O.C.'

Ryan Atwood is the broody, cuff-wearing guardian angel from Chino that rich kid comic book nerd Seth Cohen always wanted. At first, it seemed like Ryan was a novelty for Seth and a chance to make him feel cool for once in his high school life, but soon enough they were more than best friends. They were family.

Dean and Sam, 'Supernatural'

Speaking of family... We know Dean and Sam Winchester's bromance case is a literal one, considering they are actual brothers, but we just had to include these adorably close demon fighters here. Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki don't have to fake that undying love either -- the more-than-co-stars were off-screen roommates, in each other's weddings, and they celebrate the holidays together. Are you gagging from the cuteness yet?

Tracy and Kenneth, '30 Rock'

Sure, Kenneth caters to all of Tracy's ridiculous whims and is technically his employee, but we think these two really care about each other. Kenneth even stepped in as a devoted asexual office wife to Tracy when Tracy and his real wife Angie separated. Do you know anyone who would ride their bike to your house in New Jersey just to hold your hand during "Lost"? Probs not. Kenneth is a loyal friend, and Tracy truly needs him.

Joey and Chandler, 'Friends'

We're getting verklempt just thinkin' about this duo. It's hard to count their memorable moments -- Chandler making amends in a box, their "Liberace house of crap" bracelet buddy jewelry, Joey officiating Chandler's wedding... Just try not to feel all the warm and fuzzies when Joey surprises Chandler with a beautiful hug before leaving their apartment. You smiled, didn't ya? Monica aside, in a way, we think Joey really is Chandler's lobster.

House and Wilson, 'House'

Aw, the charming married couple-like quibbling of House and Wilson. Yes, House can be a coldhearted jerk and Wilson was a sweetheart deluxe, so naturally these docs went together like surgery and anesthesia. But House went to friendship extremes when he faked his own death so he could spend more time with Wilson during Wilson's final cancer-stricken months. Ugh, now we're all emotional.

Abed and Troy, 'Community'

World Series of Pop Culture" (if it ever came back!) any day, because you know they'd totally kill it.

Felix and Oscar, 'The Odd Couple'

"Odd Couple" Felix and Oscar are practically the model formula for all the TV bromances that sprouted up after they graced the small screen back in 1970, thanks to Neil Simon's successful play. Felix is neat and uptight! But Oscar is a carefree slob! Would you ever in your wildest dreams guess that they'd be BFFS4EVA? If TV's taught you anything -- you betcha.
