What’s Bred in the Blood and Bone

Robin M. Gee screendance was inspired by the work of Ida Bell Wells, whose writing documented the episodic period of lynchings in the 1890’s. The film delves into the layered truths of embodied history to fill the gaps left by loss and erasure. Three dancers’ sweeping, introspective movements interlock across indoor and outdoor settings as they are drawn together and fortified by the contemplation of their shared past, present, and future.
