As she sets outs to map Black intellectuals and activism in the United States a young photographer her camera and her books begin to produce a cartography that emerges from the transtemporal communication between people such as Gordon Parks Angela Davis Frederick Douglas Melnea Cass Rosa Parks and Malcolm X Using different textures and texts the film reintroduces the question of which historical monuments should in fact be erected so that history is not forgotten
