Die Blokke

On a Friday afternoon, three friends are standing outside Gloucester Place, a block of council flats on the Cape Flats. Muhammad would like to be a good father; Michael wants to get his mother out of Die Blokke; Cheslyn, who has just matriculated, is looking for work. However, a bullet from a passing car and an illegal firearm in the wrong hands cause pain and destruction. Die Blokke is a gritty Afrikaans short film inspired by true events. It depicts a cycle of violence in a world where work is scarce, life is cheap and the cost of living is high.
