Mirentxu Loyarte Biography
Mirentxu Loyarte (Pamplona, 1938) is a filmmaker, considered the first female Basque filmmaker. She made two short films: 'Irrintzi' (1978) and 'Ikuska 12: Euskal emakumeak' (1982). They are politically committed films, as she is in favor of cinema as a political weapon for the transformation of society. In recent years her work has been vindicated by various feminist filmmakers and researchers.
