Louissette

Louisa Augusta 'Louisette' van Gijtenbeek (1882-1965) was a Dutch singer, actress and commedienne. She was known for her extraordinary voice and extravagant dresses. In the early years of her career she worked with Flemish comedian/folk singer Chréttieni, until she left him for Jewish-Dutch performer Armand Haagman, whom she would marry. Later in life she would have a succesful solo career as a singer and work with young talent like Wim Kan and Wim Sonneveld, who would become mainstays of Dutch cabaret.
