Herrmann began his Formula One career in the 1950s, competing for teams like Mercedes-Benz, Maserati, and Porsche. Though his F1 career was notable, he truly excelled in sports car racing.
Herrmann achieved his greatest success by winning the 1970 24 Hours of Le Mans with Porsche, marking the company’s first overall victory in the prestigious event. Known for his skill and resilience, he retired from racing after his Le Mans win, cementing his legacy as a motorsport icon.
