Clive Rose Biography
Having acquired in interest in photography through his father at an early age, he finished further education in 1994 and became an apprentice to established Formula One photographer John Townsend. After nine seasons traveling with the Formula One World Championship and stints with other specialist leading motor sport photography agencies Sutton Images and LAT photographic, he accepted a job offer from Getty Images in 2002 to become a staff photographer and embrace the opportunity to expand his photographic repertoire across the sporting spectrum.
This year (2021) will mark his eighteenth year at Getty Images, during which he has been fortunate enough to cover six summer (08,12,16) and winter (06,10,14) Olympic Games, multiple F1 Championships and various other global sporting events including the Athletics World Championships, Asian Games, UEFA European and FIFA World Cup Football Championships in 2010,14 and 18.
On the journey he has also specialised in underwater sports photography including the development/use of underwater robotics at the Olympic games in addition to coverage alpine extreme sports. In 2018, Clive looked to transfer his interest in gaming to embrace the world of Esports through an innovative relationship with Gran Turismo and transfer his wealth of global motorsport photography experience to producing in-game imagery around the pioneering FIA Gran Turismo World Championship.
