Barbara Daniels Biography
American soprano; b. Newark, Ohio, May 7, 1946. She studied at Ohio State Univ.(B.Mus., 1969) and the Univ. of Cincinnati Coll.-Cons. of Music (M.A., 1971). In 1973 she made her operatic debut as Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro at the West Palm Beach (Fla.) Opera; then was a member of the Innsbruck Landestheater (1974–76), Kassel Staatstheater (1976–78), and Cologne Opera (1978–82).
In 1978 she appeared as Rosalinde at London’s Covent Garden, and on Sept. 30, 1983, she made her Metropolitan Opera debut in N.Y. as Musetta, also making guest appearances at the Vienna State Opera, the Chicago Lyric Opera, the Paris Opera, and the Bavarian State Opera in Munich. Among her other roles are Violetta, Alice Ford, Massenet’s Manon, and Micaela.
