Alex Vargas

Alex Vargas is a filmmaker currently based in Santa Cruz, California. Alex works as a full-time leader for one of the big student film organizations on the UCSC campus, the Film Production Coalition (as Outreach Coordinator/Webmaster). Alex sometimes gets ideas for his films from his life stories, including living as a gay filmmaker and growing up in a relatively conservative small town in the Central Valley, California.

Alex has won awards at the Student Cable Television Film Festival for his work as a Head Writer for "Moonlight " and Best Film by producing "Felix Knight: All-Star Attorney," "Sacrilege," and "Cupid Shoots Blind." He is currently a full-time student at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and is set to graduate in late 2025. Alex enjoyed his writing classes in High School and has been hooked ever since on creative writing endeavors.

He dreams of directing features for a living and possibly working with some of his favorite actors, including Ethan Hawke, Tilda Swinton, Zendaya, and Julianne Moore.
