Live-Action 'Dora the Explorer' Movie Reveals First Photo of Teen Dora
Pink shirt, orange pants, cute bob haircut. All checked! But it may take more than that to convince loyal "Dora the Explorer" fans to check out the live-action movie, starring an older Dora. We'll see.
Paramount just shared the first photo of 17-year-old Isabela Moner ("Transformers: The Last Knight," "Sicario: Day of the Soldado") as the live-action Dora for the 2019 movie.
Isabela Moner also posted the image herself:
"Dora the Explorer" just started filming in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. When this movie was announced last year, Michael Bay's name was attached in headlines. But he's not directing this (thankfully). Instead, it comes from director James Bobin ("The Muppets," "Alice Through the Looking Glass").
Here's more on Dora's movie:
"Having spent most of her life exploring the jungle with her parents nothing could prepare Dora (Isabela Moner) for the most dangerous adventure ever – High School. Always the explorer, Dora quickly finds herself leading Boots (her best friend, a monkey), Diego (Micke Moreno), and a rag tag group of teens on a live-action adventure to save her parents and solve the impossible mystery behind a lost Inca civilization."
The movie also stars Eugenio Derbez as Alejandro, “a mysterious jungle inhabitant who tries to protect the teenagers from the marauders”; Nicholas Coombe as Randy, “a fellow high schooler who develops an immediate crush on Dora”; Madeleine Madden as “the school’s snooty class president, Sammy”; Adriana Barraza as Dora’s grandma, Abuelita Valerie; and Temuera Morrison as Powell.
"Dora the Explorer" is scheduled for release in theaters August 2, 2019. Meanwhile, in semi-related news, "Kim Possible" is also doing her own live-action thing.
