Katherine Langford Won't Be Back For '13 Reasons Why' Season 3 (If There Is One)
Hannah Baker's story has come to the end of its tape on "13 Reasons Why."
Warning: Spoilers for Season 2 ahead.
Katherine Langford won't be reprising her role, if there is a third season of the Netflix drama, as the teen whose suicide triggered the events of the series.
In Season 2, which debuted last week, Hannah appears as a spirit haunting Clay (Dylan Minnette). But in the finale, Clay watches as she enters the church and then leaves — a symbolic "crossing over" to the afterlife.
The actress posted a farewell to her character in an Instagram post, saying, "I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to tell Hannah's story so fully in season 1, and to be asked back for a season 2."
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Langford explained, "I think coming back this season was challenging because it was playing her but not really her."
She added, " I guess if I could put Hannah's life into season 1 and then say it was kind of like being in purgatory for season 2, and then being able to officially say goodbye to her. It definitely felt like time. For me, letting Hannah go was in season 1; season 2 was for Clay to let her go."
