'American Horror Story' Season 8 Is Set in 'the Future' (But Not Outer Space)
"American Horror Story" Season 8.
The AHS creator loves his little teases, and he already has fans talking after dropping just a few words about the 2018 season during the Television Critics Association press tour.
Here's what he said (via EW):
"All I'll say about it is I want to go to the future — still topical, but the future, which I've never done."
However, don't go thinking outer space future. He added, "Not space."
Apparently FX boss John Landgraf knows what's up and is very happy with it:
"I pitched it to John Landgraf today right after his TCA panel, and he loved it, but he's asked me not to say what it is. I told him and he fell out of his chair with joy. I think people will like it, it's different from what we've done before, but I always try and do the opposite of what I've done on that show."
It remains to be seen how far in the future he's talking. They could go in any number of directions with that. Sci-fi? "Black Mirror" future showing advanced technology? Or just a few years from now in, say, an alternate 2025?
Murphy said Season 8 is in the early stages and the writers room won't gather until February to hash out the details. He said they are further along with the crossover of "Murder House" Season 1 and "Coven" Season 3, which is likely to be Season 9. The FX series tends to use the same cast members over and over, and so far we know at least Sarah Paulson is ready to return for Season 8. More names will be added later.
FX hasn't released an official premiere date yet for AHS8, but it did share dates for "Atlanta," "The Americans," and the new drama "Trust."
