Here's the 'Friends' Theme Song Performed by Movie Characters
More than 20 years after the series premiered, the "Friends" theme song, "I'll Be There for You," is still as inescapable as ever. Naturally, that makes it ripe for parody, and one YouTube user took it upon himself to mash it up with a bunch of movie characters reciting the lyrics over the backing track. The result is nothing short of brilliant.
In the clip, shared by user The Unusual Suspect, 49 different movies take a swing at "singing" the Rembrandts tune, through the clever use of dialogue -- and some sound effects -- to cover all of the lyrics. The clip begins with Tom Cruise in "Risky Business" turning on the stereo, John Belushi in "The Blues Brothers" counting down, and then a host of characters ranging from Kermit the Frog to Wayne from "Wayne's World" to Anna from "Frozen" begin spouting off the lyrics. And yes, the handclaps are in there, too, thanks to some delightfully-timed cackling from Jim Carrey.
Borat, Elizabeth Banks, Jimmy Stewart, and Arnold Schwarzenegger are some of the many, many stars that make cameos, and featured films include "Zootopia," "Lord of the Rings," "Sex and the City," and "E.T." It's a blink-and-you'll-miss-it jumble movies from different genres and time periods, and it's absolutely fabulous. Check it out above.
