'Walking Dead' Season 7 Premiere May Require Kleenex
We're finally going to find out who had this misfortune of meeting Lucille the bat when "The Walking Dead" Season 7 debuts, so brace yourself now because you probably won't like the answer.
The question of whom Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) bashed over the head has tortured fans for months now, and the answer could cause just as much anguish. In a new interview with Variety, "Walking Dead" executive producer Greg Nicotero, who also directed the Season 7 premiere, warned that we might need Kleenex when the reveal comes.
"There will be a lot of questions and a lot of whys and 'What's going to happen next?' and 'How could you?' but that's attributed to us spending seven years creating characters that people care about," Nicotero said.
He admitted that he himself was upset when he found out, but he promises that the death will serve a purpose. "It's really about propelling the story forward," he said. "We have a very important story to tell and we have to honor the direction that the show will go. The hardest thing on our show is acknowledging who has got to go."
That will have to serve as consolation, but get your tissues ready anyway. "The Walking Dead" Season 7 premieres Oct. 23 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
