Watch Reese Witherspoon Do the 'Bend and Snap' in Honor of 'Legally Blonde' 15th Anniversary
This week marked the 15th anniversary of "Legally Blonde," the comedy that starred Reese Witherspoon as Elle Woods, who follows her ex-boyfriend to Harvard Law School, and winds up becoming a pretty kickass law student in the process. In honor of that milestone, Witherspoon celebrated in the best way possible: By recreating the flick's iconic "bend and snap" routine.
In a pair of Instagram posts, the actress demonstrated the eye-catching way of getting the object of your affection's attention, in a simple three-step process. (An assist from a feathery pen is a necessity.)
But as the Oscar winner told Instagram, the flick is about more than just flirting.
"I have had so many women say, 'I went to law school because of 'Legally Blonde,'" Witherspoon said in an interview with the app's editorial team. "It actually had a meaningful story. And it was about female empowerment. It wasn't necessarily about the girl getting the guy."
Still, the "bend and snap" is an enduring symbol of the flick, and the actress admitted that she's still stopped on the street and asked to demonstrate the maneuver.
"That is still the most asked request I get from people," Witherspoon told Instagram. "I have a feeling I will be doing the bend and snap until I am 95."
