'True Detective' Season 2 Has a Trailer and a Release Date (VIDEO)
HBO dropped the first trailer for the second season of "True Detective" on Thursday, and also revealed when new episodes of the critically-acclaimed series are set to debut.
The wordless teaser features our first glimpses of Rachel McAdams, Vince Vaughn, Colin Farrell, Taylor Kitsch, and Kelly Reilly in character, and from the looks of it, everyone is absolutely miserable. Several characters burst into tears throughout the short clip, Farrell -- who sports a pretty spectacular mustache -- puts on some brass knuckles, and Kitsch appears to be suffering some sort of mental breakdown.
That seems about right for the dark series, which this season features a corrupt police department (led by Farrell, McAdams, and Kitsch) teaming up with a floundering mob boss (Vaughn) to solve a murder. Based on this first clip, that task won't be easy on anyone -- least of all on the involved parties' psyches.
"True Detective" season two is slated to premiere on June 21 on HBO.
